The original name of the San Cristobal brand was the name given to the city of Havana in 1519. The brand was launched in 1999 as a tribute to the long history of this city, as well as a way to welcome the new millennium.

The brand initially introduced four cigar sizes, named after the fortresses built by the Spanish in the 16th-18th centuries: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta, and El Príncipe.

In 2004, the brand's lineup was further expanded, adding three new sizes - Mercaderes, Oficios, and Murallas - which are the names of famous streets in the historic center of Old Havana.

All San Cristobal cigars are fully handmade, long-filler cigars, using wrapper and filler tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region. They are characterized by a medium-bodied flavor profile.
